Welcome to SpVgg Unterhaching e.V Fan Club (Singapore & Asia Pacific)

Welcome to SpVgg Unterhaching portal.

This site caters to English speaking fans of SpVgg Unterhaching situated in the Asia Pacific Region. This fan site  is generated from the island Republic of Singapore.

The internet age has certainly brought the world of football much closer than ever. Not many people in Asia knows about the German Bundesliga compared to the English Premiere League. An English league made up of top International players which became the richest league in the world all thanks to the Asians.

Nevertheless, in this information age where punters in Asia would bet on any ball which is round, my experience giving out 'Live' match statistics on Generali Stadium to hungry punters in China would bear testaments on the prospect of interest from the sports betting industry in Greater China.

Early History

The fact that the settlement of the Hachinger of valley can be seen on the basis grave back from at least 1100 v. Chr. is a proven fact. Between fifth and this respective century the Bavarian trunk was formed, here occupied by an altbajuwarisches row grave field.

The name Haching is due to the family name Hacho and the aristocracy sex of the Hahilinga. The name Haching is mentioned for the first time in the year 806 in a document, with that the abbott Petto its possession the monastery Schäftlarn handed down even there. Therefore, Haching is some hundred years older than Munich.

The name under haching (lat. inferiori hachingin ) emerges for the first time in the year 1180 in a possession listing of the bishop of freesing. From 1310 to today the village church existed under the name St. Korbinian one built. It is therefor the oldest building in Unterhaching and is located in the local part “age place”.

Unterhaching is a municipality in oberbayeri Munich district and is found south of the Bavarian state capital Munich. It has an outdoor swimming pool which is visited by many people in summer. Its football team SpVgg Unterhaching were formerly in the premiere league for a short time.

Modern History in Sports

Unterhaching is especially known in Germany for its soccer team SpVgg Unterhaching which played in the First Division (Bundesliga) during the seasons 1999/2000 and 2000/2001. In 2001 SpVgg Unterhaching won the DFB indoor soccer cup (DFB Hallenpokal).

The Unterhaching SpVgg also has a very successful Bobsport department, for which they are multiple world and European champions and is where Olympic winner Christoph Langen starts.

The volleyballers are just as successful TSV Unterhaching, which played for six years in German Bundesliga (first division).

SpVgg Unterhaching - The Cult Club

This sounds like some obscure village club, but it's actually a feisty little squad tucked away in the Munich suburbs. Often called the farm team of Bayern (although Karlsruhe is a better candidate for that) or 1860, this club has managed to survive in the 2.Liga, suprising almost everybody, including themselves. In fact in 1995/96, they were only a couple of points away from promotion into the Bundesliga itself. Perhaps they do it with mirrors!

The club was founded in 1925, and has a little over 900 members. In 1933, the Nazis disbanded the club because they weren't politically reliable, which suggests that they had some morals. After the war, the club was refounded and started play in the city leagues. This remained true until the mid 70s, when they started a rise into the upper levels of the amateur divisions. By the 1980s, they were a powerhouse in the Bayernliga, and knocking on the door of the 2nd division.

1998-99 is the year that the sensation was achieved! The mini-Muenchenkins played excellent all year long, staying in and around the top. Down the stretch they kept it up and finished 2nd. Muenchen now had it's 3rd Bundesliga club! Whether they can stay up or not is another question, but that doesn't lessen the achievement. And Unterhaching's performance was stunning: they finished 10th and decided the Championship! On the final game of the season, Bayer Leverkusen needed only a draw to secure their upset of Bayern and first title. Instead, the Hachingers kicked their ass 2-0, leaving the Bayers to wallow in their Alka-Seltzer. The little club from the suburbs, until recently financially supported by Bayern Muenchen, had just handed the title over.

Despite the scrappy play, Unterhaching could clearly not maintain Bundesliga status, and were relegated in 2001, and when they dropped again next season, most predicted they would disappear. But the club stopped the slide and won the Regionalliga Sud in 2003, returning to the 2.Liga in style.
